OXFORD ISLAM & MUSLIM AWARENESS PROJECT |
|

|
A group of young Muslim professionals
came together in the wake of the London bombings to establish
a new project called ‘Oxford iMap’ – Oxford ‘Islam and
Muslims Awareness Project.’ Sickened by the actions of
those who claimed who kill and maim in the name of Islam,
we felt it was vital for us as Muslims to convey the message
of peace, tolerance and understanding which represents
true Islam. Also, sadly, due to these terrorist atrocities,
the media has been full of negative stereotypes of Islam
and Muslims leading to a great deal of misunderstanding
and even fear of Islam and Muslims, which in turn led
to record levels of hate-crimes against Muslims.
The aim of Oxford iMap is
to inform the people of Oxfordshire of the true teachings
of Islam and show them the true face of the Muslim community,
thereby promoting community cohesion and improving relations
and mutual co-operation between people of all faiths
and none.
iMap works closely with Central Oxford Mosque and the
University Islamic society and also with local churches,
schools, councilors, and other public figures and institutions.
Our activities include:
iMap Activities & Events:
- Information stall in the city centre
- Mosque open days
- Exhibitions
- Visits to Schools and Colleges
- Islam Awareness Week
If you would like to get involved
or help this noble cause, please provide your
support.
